Turkey Completes of 96% of the Largest Dam in the World
The Ilso dam, the largest dam in the world its construction is about to be finished, despite several obstacles of completion. The dam has been fully built through the Turkish capabilities and 96 percent of its construction has been reached.
The countdown to the opening of this mega project, one of the largest in Turkey has begun.
For his part, the President of the Republic of Turkey, "Recep Tayyip Erdogan," in a speech at the breakfast feast, which he attended, said that the dam will be opened soon and that the work is going rapidly to complete its construction.
The world's biggest dam project will feed many areas and will be the lifeblood of southern Turkey.
The dam will also reduce Turkey's external energy needs, with the construction of a power plant equivalent to 5 percent of the power generated by 540 power plants through the power of water.
The dam will contribute 1.5 billion liras of the Turkish economy in agriculture and energy, and will be able to irrigate 200 different points in the states of Batman, Mardin, Sharnak, Siret and Diyarbakir through the water of the dam.
The project has been attacked by several foreign affiliates as well as attacks by the PKK, which has tried to prevent the building of this dam, that will serve the region's population.
